The IUCN Red List's Vulnerable (VU) category covers species that face a high risk of extinction in the wild. The criteria for a species to be classified in this category are:
Population Reduction: A population decline of 30% or more over the last 10 years or three generations, whichever is the most recent assessment.
Geographic Distribution: A restricted and declining geographic range, making them vulnerable to threats.
Small Population: A population numbering fewer than 1,000 mature individuals.
Quantitative Analysis: A probability of extinction in the wild of 10% or more within the next 100 years.
