I'm using the IUCN RedList classification, which is organized as follows:
The Near Threatened (NT) category on the IUCN Red List is for species that are not currently threatened but may become so in the near future if risk factors persist. The criteria for a species to be classified in this category are:
Declining population: A moderate population decline that does not yet meet the criteria for the more threatened categories, but is of concern.
Geographic distribution: A geographical range that is still relatively wide, but is showing signs of decline or fragmentation.
Potential threats: The existence of identifiable threats that could lead to a rapid population decline in the near future.
