The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List category "Critically Endangered" (CR) is a designation given to species facing an extremely high risk of extinction in the wild. To be classified in this category, a species must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Population Reduction: A population decline of more than 80% over the last 10 years or three generations, whichever is the most recent assessment.
Geographic Distribution: An extremely restricted geographic range, making them highly vulnerable to risk factors.
Extremely Small Population: A population of fewer than 50 mature individuals.
Quantitative Analysis: A 50% or greater probability of extinction in the wild within the next 10 years or three generations.
